Electrical Project Manager Assistant

Currently available is an opportunity to join a specialist Electrical & Mechanical contractor which is going through a period of rapid expansion. This an exciting time for our organisation and we would like a key individual to join our project delivery team.

Dyer & Butler Electrical was established by an electrical team with extensive knowledge and experience of the UK Airport sector. Electrical works include Aeronautical ground lighting (AGL), LV distribution, Lighting, Cable Management including installation, Aircraft head of stands equipment, testing & inspections, surveys and energy management. We have experienced growth in both our airports work as well as off airport project works. Off airport works includes Electrical installation projects, rail/tube and office refurbishment.

Our company ethos is to provide the right management team with the correct skill base and experience to deliver projects with minimal fuss and a non-confrontational approach. Consequently we have developed successful long standing relationships with our client.

As the Project Manager’s Assistant you will assist delivery of M&E project works from tender or post tender stage, construction to hand over stage. Projects valuation would be expected to be between £500 and £1,500k and varying in duration.

Our head office is based at Manor Royal Estate near Gatwick Airport with a team presence at Heathrow Airport as well. While our project works are predominately at these airports, we have delivered UK and international projects.

Overview / Responsibilities:

The Project Manager’s Assistant is responsible for the following tasks,

  • Assist the Project Manager in the delivery of key projects.
  • Assist in delivery of operational activities in compliance with internal procedure and external legislation governing business operations
  • Develop and maintaining positive relationships with our clients, supply chain and internal team.
  • Attend meetings; including progress, pre-construction, pre-award and handover meetings
  • Prepare and submit site permitary prior to starting works as required for an airport / safety critical environment.
  • Maintain records utilising company’s documentation management system, workspace.
  • Provide logistical support across the individual work locations through the management of project procurement needs in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Control Project functions and operations through use of IT based systems
  • Manage weekly timesheets for site operatives.
  • Maintain project and QSHE files.
  • Create method statements and risk assessments for project activities.
  • Collate and review daily, weekly and monthly management and client reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of handover documentation.
  • Collate the project manager’s time allowance from the project cost plans.
  • Develop and promote good lines of communication with the site based team, clients, suppliers and subcontractors and the wider Dyer & Butler Electrical Team
  • Positively promote Dyer & Butler Electrical’s procedure and good working practices
  • Perform other ad hoc requests as required by your manager and other members of the management teams


  • Willingness & motivation to learn
  • Enthusiasm to develop understanding of Electrical works, particularly in an Airport/Aviation environment.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Powerpoint
